Breezy launches AI-powered door-to-door Trade-in on Takealot

The new service enables nearly 5 million Takealot customers to upgrade their smartphones online with instant trade-in discounts and doorstep collection. 

Takealot, South Africa’s largest online marketplace, has launched a fully online door-to-door Trade-In service powered by Breezy, giving customers a simple and convenient way to upgrade their smartphones without visiting a physical store or service center.  

Powered by Breezy’s AI-driven technology, the service allows customers to receive an instant valuation for their used smartphone online and apply the trade-in value immediately as a discount toward the purchase of a new device. A courier then delivers the new smartphone while collecting the old one in the same visit. 

How the online Trade-In works

1. Choose your device from the list and describe it’s condition  
2. Take photo’s of your device to get a final offer value.  
3. A courier validates and collects your device from your doorstep for free
4. Receive an email with your Takealot voucher and use it on any new device online.  

Sustainability

Beyond customer convenience, the program also supports sustainability. After collection, traded-in devices are professionally inspected, graded, refurbished, and returned to the market by Breezy. These devices will also be available as quality preowned devices on the Takealot marketplace for lovers of affordable tech. By extending the lifespan of smartphones, the program supports the circular economy, helping reduce electronic waste, lower CO₂ emissions, and minimize the environmental impact of consumer electronics.
