On November 27, Breezy attended Retech Days Business 2025<\/a> \u2014 one of the key events in the circular IT and sustainable electronics industry.
Our colleague Maria Yanchenko<\/strong> took part in a panel discussion focused on device lifecycle extension, end-of-life management, quality standardization, and building trust in refurbished technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those who couldn\u2019t attend, we\u2019ve gathered the key insights that strongly resonate with our work at Breezy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. The stigma around used devices persists \u2014 and the market is learning how to overcome it<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The panel \u201cHow To Tackle The Used Stigma: Consumer Trust, Grading & Quality Assurance\u201d<\/em> addressed why, despite rising awareness, users are still cautious about refurbished devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Simone Sievernich, General Manager Hard Goods at eBay,<\/strong> noted: \u201cAwareness is growing, but still comparatively low\u2026 If you haven\u2019t had a good experience, the perceived risk of buying something used is inherently higher compared to new.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Simone emphasized that consumers assess risk before they recognize value \u2014 and the industry\u2019s task is to make this risk predictable and manageable.
This is why eBay continues to expand its eBay Refurbished program, where only verified sellers participate and quality is standardized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Without grading standardization, the market cannot grow<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The same panel highlighted the urgency of having unified grading terminology. As one of the speakers stressed: \u201cStandardization would be like the lingua franca <\/strong>of refurbishment\u2026 it is needed.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, A\/B\/C grades differ by seller, creating confusion and eroding trust.
At Breezy, we consistently emphasize that developing an industry-wide standard is one of the essential steps toward market maturity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Value for consumers comes not only from price \u2014 but from transparency<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As Alexandra Asanache, Sustainability Solutions Consultant at Lenovo<\/strong>, pointed out: \u201cPrice attracts attention, warranty creates safety, and grading accuracy and communication create trust.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Alexandra also shared how Lenovo is actively developing circular solutions:
refurbishing devices in-house, replacing batteries below 80% capacity, repainting housings, performing up to 35 tests, and returning devices with a renewed warranty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This demonstrates how manufacturers are becoming active contributors to circularity, rather than just observers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many speakers highlighted that companies want visibility across the entire process \u2014 from device drop-off to resale or recycling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As one panelist put it: \u201cTypical ITAD processes create complexity, silos, delays\u2026 customers wait weeks not knowing what\u2019s happening with their devices.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Real-time platforms solve this problem by giving companies transparency at every step \u2014 status updates, photos, MDM removal, audit trails, and compliance documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Sustainability is no longer the main driver<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Over the past year, ESG motivation has declined in the corporate sector, while financial motivation has increased.
As Breezy CEO Andrii Kosar <\/strong>puts it: \u201cFirst economy, then ecology.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the speakers summarized this shift: \u201cSustainability has fallen down the agenda\u2026 today price and quality matter much more than a year ago.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Still, participants agreed that sustainability will return to the forefront \u2014 driven by regulation and investor expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Five billion unused devices is a huge opportunity<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
